Over the May Racing Weekend Ascot Racecourse offered to rename a race in honour of Dingley's Promise.
The Dingley’s Promise Handicap Stakes (class 4) took place on Friday 11th May 2018. This one-mile handicap race was for three-year old thoroughbreds that have been rated from 71 to 85. This fast flat race was ax perfect end to the six races over the course of the evening.
Before the race commenced, the participating horses entered the Parade Ring, led by their grooms; often the unsung heroes at the races. Dave Ormrod, Chair of Dingley’s Promise was invited to judge the Best Turned-Out horse; considering plaits, quarter marks and shoes! Horse 19, Viceroy Mac, won the title with a presentation of a cheque to the trainer, David Loughnane from Tern Hill.
Immediately afterwards we took to the podium to present the Dingley’s Promise Handicap Stakes cup to the owner, Mr V.I. Araci and a bottle of Bollinger Champagne to the trainer, Hugo Palmer from Newmarket and to the jockey, Josephine Gordon.
